1. Do not be argumentative.

Present your viewpoint and be professional.  If you do not agree with something the Interviewer has said do not spurn it as invalid.  Learn to understand their point of view even if it clashed with your own. This does not mean that you need to accept their point of view.

2. What you should not wear to a job interview

One of the most important things to avoid in interviews is that you should try to avoid wearing the following items due to their inappropriate or distracting nature:

  • Casual clothing.
  • Sandals or flip-flops.
  • Poorly fitting clothes or shoes.
  • Flashy clothes or jewelry.
  • Stained or wrinkled clothing.
  • Too much makeup.
  • Heavy perfume or cologne.

3. Address the Interviewer politely.

It is always polite to refer to the Interviewer as SIR or Maam. Do not call them with their direct names, always address them their Surname like (Mr. XXX or Mrs. XXX). So, one of the important things to avoid in interviews is NEVER to use terms such as Honey, Girl, Dude, etc.

  • Speaking too loudly.
  • Getting angry or frustrated.

5. Don’t be too casual in an Interview

  • Being too casual.
  • Reclining your chair / putting your feet up.
  • Rocking your chair back and forth.
  • Fidgeting.
  • Sitting before the Interviewer sits.
  • Avoid extravagant gestures / too much hand waving.

6. Take Care of Hygiene Issues before the Interview

  • Using the bathroom in the middle of an interview.
  • Sweaty palms as you will have to shake hands.
